We are seeking for potential candidates to apply for a position as a
CNRS junior research associate in conjunction with our group.
The focus of the research will be on developing advanced NMR methods
for the analysis of mixtures of small molecules, with particular
attention to perspective applications to natural products. Our ongoing
activity aims at resolving the complex NMR spectra of multicomponent
mixtures by relying on pseudochromatographic experiments (Angew. Chem.
2006, 45 , 5950-5953), multiple-quantum analysis (Anal. Chem. 2010,
82, 3266-3269 ) and adapted signal processing.
The candidate will be located at the Institut de Chimie des Substances
Naturelles (Gif-sur-Yvette), in the Paris area, which hosts several
high-field spectrometers, including a 950 MHz.
The ideal candidate should have a disposition towards teamwork, an
inquisitive mind and a solid background on the development and application
of modern NMR methodology, with a Ph. D. degree and at least one year
of post-doctoral work in the area.
As the CNRS national competition is highly selective, a strong
publication record is necessary.

Job Details
The candidate will be responsible for characterizing protein-ligand interactions and implementing fragment-based approaches by NMR spectroscopy for the identification and optimization of small molecule inhibitors targeting disease-linked pathways. The scientist will be working in the group of Michael Sattler at the Institute of Structural Biology (http://www.helmholtz-muenchen.de/stb) in close collaboration with structural biologists using NMR-spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography for studying protein-ligand interactions. Interactions are expected with the Protein Expression and Purification Facility and the Assay Development and Screening Facility. The scientist should establish NMR-monitored fragment-based screening and support on-going projects in the identification and optimization of small molecule hits and leads using structural biology (NMR and X-ray crystallography). A two-year post-doc position is available in the field of Solid State NMR
At: Nano-SiSTeMI Interdisciplinary Centre, University of Piemonte Orientale
Where: Alessandria, Italy; Milan, Italy
Task: The aim of the project, in collaboration with Bruker (Italy) is to develop,
implement and use innovative solid state NMR (SS-NMR) techniques for the study of
a broad range of solids including catalysts, materials for photovoltaic devices,
optoelectronic and sensing, polymer composites, hybrid materials, cements, etc... The
responsibility also includes in providing (a) assistance and training in SS-NMR, (b)
designing and development of pulse programs, (c) experimental and interpretational
service to support collaborative and multidisciplinary research on national and
international levels and (d) day-to-day maintenance and upgrading of the facility.
The position plays two distinct roles. One is part of the NMR centered program of the
Prof. Marchese group. The other is as part of the characterization facilities available
to collaborating research groups, both within the department and external, that service an extremely wide-ranging program of materials-centered research.

In connection with a collaboration agreement with Janssen Pharmaceutica,
Beerse, Belgium, the University of Liege has a postdoctoral vacancy available.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a sound understanding of
ssNMR theory and extensive experience in implementing, setting up, running,
processing and evaluating ssNMR experiments, preferably in the context of
pharmaceutical applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for
setting-up a ssNMR research environment suitable for pharmaceutical
applications of ssNMR - as a tool for trouble shooting as well as a tool for
the development and characterization of solid form formulations (tablets,
powders, suspensions, including nano-particle based forms). Ability to work
independently and very good communicative skills are a must. He/she will be
involved in collaborative projects with Janssen Pharmaceutica.
The NMR group in Liege is equipped with two Bruker 400 MHz ssNMR spectrometers.
