[NMR software blog] Bell Bell
Bell Bell
Our friends working in the field of biopolymers can study a single molecules for months and can afford to spend a lot of time with their NMR spectra, if the time invested translates into higher accuracy of their results.
Software makers are more interested in creating automatic tools that work without human intervention, day and night, because of the higher appeal of any push-button solution. Is anybody helping our friends? Yes! One month ago a simple and effective tool appeared for measuring the volume of a 2-D cross peak, courtesy of iNMR. Let's see, with a practical example,...

The Russell Varian Prize 2011: call for nominations
The Russell Varian prize honors the memory of the pioneer behind the first commercial Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectrometers and co-founder of Varian Associates. The prize is awarded to a researcher based on a single innovative contribution (a single paper, patent, lecture, or piece of hardware) that has proven of high and broad impact on state-of-the-art NMR technology. The prize aims to award the initial contribution that laid the ground for the specific technology of great importance in state-of-the-art NMR. It is sponsored by Varian...

[NMR900 blog] 4th Annual VIVA NMR Symposium
4th Annual VIVA NMR Symposium
Hi All,
I am pleased to announce that the 4th Annual VIVA NMR symposium will take place Monday, June 21st at Simon Fraser University (Burnaby Mountain Campus) in Burnaby B.C. Yes, that is only 2 weeks away! We apologize for the short notice but certain events have made it necessary to organize it early this year.
The aim of this one day symposium is to bring together NMR users, researchers and managers from western Canada and the north-west of the USA to share information on topics of general NMR interest and to foster the development of an NMR...

A Guide to Structure Prediction, by Rob Russell
A Guide to Structure Prediction (version 2.1) (link)
Rob Russel (for EMBL) gives a useful, step-by-step guide to predicting 3D protein structure, and provides links to numerous online resources. An excerpt from the website is pasted below.
"""
Introduction
This is by no means intended to be a comprehensive guide to predicting protein 3D structure. Rather, I have tried as best as possible to summarise my general approach to the problem in a manner that I hope is useful and not too difficult to follow. I apologise in advance for failing to include various references, WWW sites, etc. I...

Cleveland NMR Symposium
Dear NMR colleague:
We are writing to draw your attention to the special NMR Symposium, which we are hosting here in Cleveland at the beginning of May (from May 12 to May 14, 2006). We have assembled an exciting 2 1/2 day program, and it will be our pleasure to welcome you and your co-workers to this event. It'll be fun!
We also would be very grateful if you could further distribute the attached flyer/this e-mail to your coworkers and colleagues.
Many thanks in advance, and see you in Cleveland!
