Biotin carboxyl carrier protein (BCCP) is a subunit of the heteromeric acetyl-CoA carboxylase (htACCase), and it chemically links the two half-reactions that constitute the formation of malonyl-CoA from acetyl-CoA, a critical reaction in fatty acid biosynthesis.
