Default Solid state NMR of membrane proteins: methods and applications

Solid state NMR of membrane proteins: methods and applications

Membranes of cells are active barriers, in which membrane proteins perform essential remodelling, transport and recognition functions that are vital to cells. Membrane proteins are key regulatory components of cells and represent essential targets for the modulation of cell function and pharmacological intervention. However, novel folds, low molarity and the need for lipid membrane support present serious challenges to the characterisation of their structure and interactions. We describe the use...

Solid-state NMR methods for oriented membrane proteins
From The DNP-NMR Blog: Solid-state NMR methods for oriented membrane proteins This review article gives a comprehensive overview of the field of solid-state NMR spectroscopy on oriented samples. These experiments are typically less demanding on instrumentation since experiments are performed on static samples, without the need of spinning. While this article is not directly related to DNP-NMR spectroscopy, DNP-NMR on static samples will certainly become more interesting in the future.

ICMRBS founder’s medal 2006: Biological solid-state NMR, methods and applications Marc Baldus Journal of Biomolecular NMR; 2007; 39(1); pp 73-86 Abstract: Solid-state NMR (ssNMR) provides increasing possibilities to study structure and dynamics of biomolecular systems. Our group has been interested in developing ssNMR-based approaches that are applicable to biomolecules of increasing molecular size and complexity without the need of specific isotope-labelling. Methodological aspects ranging from spectral assignments to the indirect detection of proton–proton contacts in...
