Abstract
The editors of this special volume suggested this topic, presumably because of the perspective lent by our combined >90-year association with biomolecular NMR. What follows is our personal experience with the evolution of the field, which we hope will illustrate the trajectory of change over the years. As for the future, one can confidently predict that it will involve unexpected advances. Our narrative is colored by our experience in using the NMR Facility for Biomedical Studies at Carnegie-Mellon University (Pittsburgh) and in developing similar facilities at Purdue (1977-1984) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1984-). We have enjoyed developing NMR technology and making it available to collaborators and users of these facilities. Our group's association with the Biological Magnetic Resonance data Bank (BMRB) and with the Worldwide Protein Data Bank (wwPDB) has also been rewarding. Of course, many groups contributed to the early growth and development of biomolecular NMR, and our brief personal account certainly omits many important milestones.

Past and Future Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy Studies at the Convergence Point between Biology and Materials Research
From The DNP-NMR Blog:
Past and Future Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy Studies at the Convergence Point between Biology and Materials Research
With DNP becoming an important technique in the material science community it is good to take a look every now and then at the progress that the field of solid-state NMR spectroscopy is making in the area of material science.

[NMR paper] Chemical exchange in biomacromolecules: Past, present, and future
Chemical exchange in biomacromolecules: Past, present, and future
Publication date: April 2014
Source:Journal of Magnetic Resonance, Volume 241

Author(s): Arthur G. Palmer III

The perspective reviews quantitative investigations of chemical exchange phenomena in proteins and other biological macromolecules using NMR spectroscopy, particularly relaxation dispersion methods. The emphasis is on techniques and applications that quantify the populations, interconversion kinetics, and structural features of sparsely populated conformational states in equilibrium...

[NMR900 blog] 25th MOOT NMR Minisymposium: call for past MOOT photos
25th MOOT NMR Minisymposium: call for past MOOT photos
Dear colleagues,
We would like to collect photos from the past 24 MOOT NMR minisymposiums.
If you have some photos from the earlier MOOT, we would be grateful if you could email them to us at . Please indicate in the email or in the name of the photos the corresponding MOOT edition.
In addition to display some of these during the banquet, we will compile them under the permanent MOOT Google account for future usage.
