The Siemer lab at USC is looking for a post-doctoral associate with a solid background in molecular biology, biochemistry, and experience in NMR spectroscopy. The lab studies the structure, dynamics, and function of amyloid fibrils, in particular functional amyloids. To this goal we apply solid-state NMR spectroscopy in conjunction with other biochemical and biophysical methods. Sample preparation will be an important part of the work especially at the beginning of the project.Interested candidates should have a strong background in one or more of the following areas:Recombinant protein expression and purificationMultidimensional NMR (liquids or solids)The Siemer lab is located at the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute of USC and is, together with labs in EPR and liquid-state NMR spectroscopy, part of an effort to investigate nervous system function with sturcuturbiological methods in an interdisciplinary environment. The position is available immediately, and interested candidates should send their CV's including the names of three references to Ansgar Siemer asiemer@usc.edu.

Postdoctoral position in solid state NMR
In the Research Group Macromolecular Interactions at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig, Germany. We are looking for an open-minded, enthusiastic candidate motivated to employ solid-state NMR spectroscopy to study the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions involved in innate immunity. The project focuses on the recognition of bacterial amyloid-like fibrils by specific host proteins and aims to identify molecular patterns of these fibrils recognized by the innate immune system. The successful candidate will...
