The Department of Chemistry at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is seeking a qualified NMR spectroscopist / Technician.

As an instrument technician with a strong background in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometry under the direction of the NMR Supervisor, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of scientific instruments used in research and teaching programs. You will also analyze samples using NMR spectrometry to determine the structure of compounds and instruct researchers on the use and operation of a range of NMR instruments including Bruker AMX 400, AMX 600 and Varian Inova 500 and MercuryPlus 400 spectrometers.

Ideally, you have a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, and three years of related experience in NMR spectrometry (including acquiring and interpreting spectra). You will possess excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving, communication and computer skills (including UNIX).
