Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy
Positions in Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy at Maastricht
Description
The Maastricht University Medical Center and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML) seek to fill several positions for the newly established center for NMR Structural Biology within the CARIM School for Cardiovascular Diseases and the Maastricht-Centre for Atherosclerosis Research (M-CAR). Applications are sought for a senior NMR spectroscopist, a postdoctoral associate and a technician. The senior NMR spectroscopist will essentially operate the NMR Facility under faculty directorship, and will also be encouraged to develop an independent line of research consistent with the goals of CARIM and M-CAR.
In general, successful applicants will be highly motivated individuals interested in studying the molecular basis of cardiovascular disease, as well as on the design and discovery of novel pharmaceutical agents e.g. targeting chemokine and galectin oligomers to ameliorate cardiovascular disorders.
Although NMR spectroscopy will be major focus of the Center for Structural Biology at CARIM, other biophysical methods may be employed to elucidate specific molecular mechanisms of action to better understand biological function.
Requirements
The senior NMR and postdoctoral position require a PhD degree in physical sciences and experience in advanced biomolecular NMR spectroscopy of proteins and protein structure elucidation. The candidate for the technical position should have experience in NMR spectroscopy, preferably with a degree in experimental physics, biophysics, or engineering. The successful applicant for the technical position should have experience in protein expression, mutagenesis, and purification.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and the guidelines set by the Maastricht University Medical Centre.
